I’m loving seeing more of you developing thoughts on in-branding and being more holistically yourself ✨ I have also been going after children’s books for comfort and entertainment recently. It took me a long time to let go of shame around what I “should” be reading and it truly is wonderful to just let yourself loose on what you truly want to read 🥰
“An artist isn’t a brand. An artist has a style.” I adore this. So many of the things you’ve said here feel like I could’ve written them myself. I love seeing that you’re embracing your multitudes, it’s definitely encouraging and inspiring for someone like me who’s often felt pressure to segment myself to be more palatable.
Also, love that Neil Gaiman master class, it’s fantastic!
Thank you Kerani! I agree about the Masterclass. Even when he says something I've heard before there's a deeper layer to it. I'm so excited to dive back into my fantasy book this autumn. 🍂🍁🌾
Oh I loved everything about this. I made my whole world branding as VA, and I think I'm just weary of it at this point lol. I've gone against my better instincts for years, because some guru told me otherwise. Like one thing I've *always* wanted to do, is make little updates to my site for the seasons. Like, when I had a unicorn logo, I really wanted to make it where he was playing in leaves for the fall, or tangled in lights for the holidays, but I was told that that was silly, and no one would even notice.
I still think things like that are fun. Erin Condren's logo, when you hover over it, it spins like some modern art interpretation of a pinwheel. Love it.
I love children's books! I felt really bad about how many kids books made up my reading count on Goodreads last year, but I do a TON of reading to the kids for school and leisure, and I thoroughly enjoy that! It's a pleasure sharing the favorite reads of my childhood with them, and discovering new favorites alongside them.
I love all of those ideas! I think Kris does seasonal themes sometimes on her Instagram feed. I saw you started your Substack this week! I am so excited to follow along.

Yes! What I want to read varies wildly, but I get so much more out of if it's the right book at the right time. Also kids books are brilliant! 💫

I DID! Thank you so much for your encouragement on that! :D Now to follow through, and not psych myself out!
I'm so excited about it. 🥳
